Vehnet has unveiled the latest generation of its yard management software. The new "Advanced Yard" system has been designed to deliver increased productivity with greater control, according to the logistics software specialist.

The company said the technology synchronises resources and optimises yard operations, linking into the supply chain and providing enhanced visibility across multiple locations.

The new look software – part of the iTracks suite of management information systems – is RFID-ready and features intuitive state-of-the-art graphics and real-time intelligence.

"Advanced Yard integrates easily into the supply chain, closing a potential blind spot," said Steve Jones, Vehnet group MD. “The beauty of this software is that it is applicable across a wide range of different environments and industries, wherever there are inbound and outbound movements, processing requirements and a need for absolute visibility and control.

"Although some WMS and TMS offerings include a yard solution, experience shows this will often be a module of minor importance, poor in specialised functionality. On the other hand, developing an in-house solution is likely to require substantial investment to deliver up-to-date technology.

"What sets Vehnet Advanced Yard Management apart from these alternatives is that it is designed to be rapidly configured to meet any yard scenario whatever its complexity. It thrives on complex, multi-site operations, but it is also scalable in terms of functionality and cost so that any yard can benefit."
