Zebra Enterprise Solutions has formed an agreement to deploy its Navis Sparcs N4 terminal operating system at DP World new terminal in Callao. The multi-million dollar greenfield Muelle Sur terminal facility at the Peruvian port is set up open a year ahead of schedule in April 2010.

"We’re confident that the implementation of Sparcs N4 at the Muelle Sur terminal will help us create a state-of-the-art container terminal," said Maciek Kwiatkowski, general manager at DP World Callao.

Terminal manager Luis Turbides added: "With Sparcs N4, we will eliminate a lot of potential paperwork. We’re also looking forward to using Sparcs N4 modules like business intelligence, which will help us make quicker decisions on the fly, and the groovy coding, which allows us to customise."

The Muelle Sur terminal will have a 650-metre quayline, equipped with the super post-panamax STS gantry cranes. The facility will have an annual capacity of about 850,000teu in its first phase, and a maximum capacity of about 1.4m teu in the second phase of development.

Zebra said that it has an additional 15 potential Sparcs N4 customers are in the pipeline.
