Terex Port Equipment has won a contract to supply 10 RTG cranes to Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal in Fujian Province, China. The cranes will be built by Noell Crane Systems (China), part of Terex Port Equipment since the takeover of the Fantuzzi Group in June last year.
Scheduled for delivery in December 2010, the diesel-powered units have a safety working load of 40.5 tonnes under single-lift all-electrical spreader. The 23.47-metre span will accommodate six container rows plus a truck lane with a lift height of one-over-five (18.1 metres).
The drive system is based on the latest generation of Siemens converters (Sinamics+Simotion D) with DC bus architecture. Speedy work cycles are facilitated by a hoisting speed of 23/52 metres/min (rated load/empty under spreader), trolley travel speed of 70 metres/min and gantry travel speed of 30/90 metres/min (rated load /empty under spreader).
At a signing ceremony in Xiamen to make the agreement (pictured), Zhang Jun Sheng, general manager of Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal, said: "At various container terminals at Xiamen port, there are already more than 60 Terex [formerly Noell China] RTG cranes in operation. These are good-quality machines that get their jobs done reliably at a low total cost of ownership. We are confident that the new machines will get their jobs done equally efficient with the same good performance as usual."
