After revealing its 2009 output, Liebherr’s mobile harbour crane division said it was satisfied with its operational performance. The company delivered 74 mobile harbour cranes (MHCs), representing a 27% decline year-on-year. Liebherr pointed out that the MHC market, including all suppliers, declined by 40%.

A statement said: "Although the past year was one of extraordinary global economic turbulence, resulting in a considerable decline in worldwide demand for mobile harbour cranes, Liebherr managed to increase its global market share substantially [+60%] and reinforced its prime position as market leader." Liebherr’s biggest decline was in Europe, where deliveries fell 31%. With 15 units delivered, Russia was by far the biggest market worldwide in 2009.
