Asia Vision launches internet-based OCR

OCR specialist Asia Vision Technology (AVT) is releasing a new internet-based version of its VECON-VIS & VECON-CON Recognition Services, which it said marks a breakthrough enhancement of OCR performance for the industry.

"Previously, the OCR software worked alone without continuous maintenance. The users often encountered problems of accuracy and performance drop due to camera/lighting calibration problem, license plate format change, operation system change or hardware failure," the firm explained in a statement. "Now the paradigm shifts with extremely low total cost of ownership and users no longer have to worry about the technology infrastructure. AVT is going to provide Software as a Service (SaaS). The Recognition Service is accessible through the Internet with high availability, promising performance and centralised feature updating. Users can submit images through internet to our server and receive the OCR results in real time."
